Is there anything more relaxing and fun than an outside backyard party? I’m sharing my favorite ways ways to incorporate red white and blue decor into your Independence Day party! Patriotic decorations are so happy and fun to work with, it can be such an easy DIY party!
Be sure you keep keep your Fourth of July party super simple. This is not the time to show off! You want everyone to walk in, feel relaxed, help themselves and feel like they can kick their feet up. Don’t overdo. There are plenty of holidays end of year where you can shine. Cut yourself a break and throw a really relaxed and easy party! Think Mason Jars with tea, easy to hold in your hand food, red white and blue craft of laying out a bunch of sidewalk chalk with stencils like the USA flag or Statue of Liberty! Make sure you leave out plenty of America themed colored chalk for them!
I’ve always loved the idea of throwing a July 4th party outside. Yes, it’s hot so I set out a lot of outdoor fans and have plenty of cold drinks available (sweet tea and lemonade are great!) Set out plenty of Adirondack chairs for your guests to relax in. I did a post on my favorite chairs, but I think classic white Adirondack chairs scream summer and are 4th of july party decor you can enjoy year round! Throw a few throw pillows on the ground in case people plop themselves on the grass. Pottery Barn always makes fabulous holiday themed pillows!
If you can, haul your table outside for easier access and set one up inside. I don’t like sit down backyard parties. The kids will be swimming, people will be mingling. Don’t do a sit down dinner. Set your food out in a fun way outside and let people grab as they want. I prefer to do a table of cold food inside, and then outside keep the burgers, warm sides and chips. That way everything stays the right temperature!
Be sure to incorporate classic Americana decor. I use these flags to stick in the ground and in my flower arrangements. It helps to easily add the beautiful red, white and blue colors and is ridiculously simple. I also love Coke’s in glass bottles. Maybe I’m alone in this, but I think Coke tastes better in bottles and this is the perfect holiday to splurge a little and buy them!
Whatever you do, I hope you feel the warmth of summer, the enjoyment of celebrating with friends and a moment to kick off your shoes and let your hair down! Happy holiday, everyone!
